0 INSTALLATION of MAYOR. A special meeting of the Council for the installation of the new Mayor was held at the Library last even- j ing. Present — Crs Jenks, Nye, McMillan Jonson, and Austin, with the Mayor elect, llr T. Wilson). lii the absence of the retiring-Mayor ; Mr Cower), Mr Jenks, as the oldestelected Councillor, had much pleasure in introducing Mr Wilson to the meeting as their future Mayor. The incoming- Mayor, Mr Wilson, then made the usual declaration and took his seat. The Mayor, in a few woid--, thauked them for the position in which they had placed him. He would do liiisbest to further the interests of the Council^and the Councillors would no doi:' ' do what they cou dto help him. The Clerk brought before the meeting a letter froui Messrs Spcira and McKee, applying for ponnksion to erect a naxmil! on the river bank. The letter was, however, ruled out of order, and it was resolved that the letter should be brought up for con- I sideration at noxL meeting of tho , Council. ; The Council then adjourned to' the first Monday in January.
