Profits of American Newspapers.
» Last year the- New York World sn}^ au American paper, made a net
profit of £240,000. The reeeip'.s from the Sunday World alone are enough to pay the entire expanse of the establishment, leaving the earni gs of the paper on the other six clays and of the IVeek'y JTurM as clear profit. Probably the New York Herald is earning £00,000 or £80,000 a year. There are other papers in N-w York which earn small lortnnes every year. The Chicago Tribune makes a net year y profit of £-io,ov'o, and the News makes half as much.
