The Lower Organism.
TfiK Now Zealand Times is partieularly anxious that the Government { should "resign at once" as it fears that some of tlio nosv dubbed oppositi.on members will " induce Government to remain in office " which is styled " simply dishonest. 1 ' Tlie Times cannot stand any such proceeding, it is so anxious to see Mr Ballance in power, that it descends to revile members, who are likely to desire no alteration in the Government, by all sorts of <|ueer terms. The Government must not trust " those lower organisms of political life'" it shouts. Any notice of them is '• the fiction of our invertebrate school of politics." it is time the invertebrate school were dead and buried." It prays •' to oe delivered from the rule of the carpet-bagger and the invertebrate." If the Government accepts tlie opinions of members, instead of the dictation of the opposition newspapers, the Times says " the result will be deplorable. The lower organism will come once more to the conclusion that his existence is justified— a most comforting reflection to all noxious reptiles." have in this leader a line specimen of calm argumentative pleading ! "We hope our representatives appreciate it.
