T. Button's Bankruptcy.
v We ave sovry to learn that Mr T. Sntton has hail, aftei- all his efforts, to seek the protection oi' the bankruptcy Court. As a member of the firm of Stewart Button & Co., he came forward like an honourable man and did his best to nil the " breach " caused by his partners, and we understand that the heavy reclamations he had to stand on shipments to London, amounting to many hundreds of pounds, _ has caused this unfortunate position. We look upon Mv Button as a very straightforward man, and regret his misfortunes. The following is the statement of assets and liabilities in the bankrupt estate of T. Button 5—

Beale, who is secured by bill of sale and mortgage on the following stock : — Three horses £50 : three sets harness, £20 ; three spring drays, £65 ; four wheeled brake, £20 ; one dray (broad tyre), £15 ; two eight-horse power engines, £200 ; two flax strippers, £30 ; 200 feet of belting, £40 ; two Avery scales and weights, £20 ; total estimated value £490 ; surplus to contra, £190. Assets. — Book debts, estimated to produce £5 ; furniture, £20 ; horses and harness, £10 ; dray £10 ; mill building at Taikorea. £60 ; good will of lease, £50 ; 16 togs of flax in the hands of Meesrs McMillan, Rhodes tf Co., on which £14 per ton advanced, £16; 5 tons of flaxen the hands of Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., on which £11 per ton had been advanced, £20 ; surplus for contra, £190. Total, £381. Deficiency, £385 3s Id.
