Solemn Opening of a Church in Palmerston.

Archbishop Redwood. >p?ci<l tr>ti- - were run from Wimganni nud L'oxton. His Grace blessed the ( huvch at an early hour on Sunday morning There were 5 services bo fore the Solemn High Mass which was at 1 1 a.m. The Very Rev. Dr Walters Celebrant, Very Rev. Father McNamara V. G. D neon and Father Bxvusard, ?ub Do .con, Father KirMaster of Ceremonies. There were present His Grace tho Archbishop, Father Dawson. Faciier Pafcteison. Tho Arclibisliop preach od two of the most eloquent sermons fver picachfo in New Z a'and, as an Ora'or bo is " facile priiu-eps." There were many n n C.itholic- pro-ent who were very much impressed with the discourses. The choir was well strengthened on the occasion, having a full orchestral band to assist the siugers Rev 'Father Jfafcterson conducted the choir, Madames Pascal, Lloyd, and Cord oza, and Messrs Hoe (principal tenor of St Mary's Cathedral Wellington) Rendal and Hendeieon gave admirable assistance, Mr Isherwood was loader of the band. The new church will peat 450, tower and spire ascend 120 feet, length of church 82 feet width 84, studs 22 feet. There's a largo gallery and organ !oft, and a nice stained glass window, the rose shape. It is beautifully furnished with large statues, candlelabi-as chandaliers. and well lighted with 74 lights, all is furnished inside and out, Mr Larcombe is architect, Mr Malcome builder, and Rev Father Patterson priest in charge.
