Serious Fire in Sydney.

♦ DAMAGES £50,000. A serious fire occurred last week at Gibbs, Bright and Go's wharf, Darling 1 Harbour. Their kerosene bond, containing thirty thousand cases, equal to a quarter of a million gallons of oil, caught fire, and was soon completely demolished. The burning oil spread all over the wharf, most of which was burned. Some large piles of timber are on fire, but there is no danger of the blaze spreading to the adjoining property. The fire is still burning but it is under control. The damage is estimated at £50. The amount of insurance is at present unknown. When the fire was at its height it presented a grand spectacle, huge bodies of flames and dense clouds of smoke rising high in the air. — Press Association.
