Nomination of Mayor.
+ Yestbrpay at noon the Returning Officer, Mr Gibson, stated that he had only received the nomination of Mr Thomas "Wilson, for Ihe office, and therefore he declared that gentlemen duly elected. Mr Wilson was nominated by Mesrs J. E. McMillan and T. P. Williams. On Tuesday afternoon a requisition was circulated for signature requesting Mr Thomas Wilson to hllow himself to be nominated for the office of Mayor, and was most freely signed, over 50 names having been attached within a very short time. Messrs Williams and McMillan then drove out to Mr Wilson's residence, and handed him the document-, . aud, a? representing the B:>rough Council, promised to assist him in every way in conducting the public business. '. Mr Wi'son took the right view and admitted that on beiig asked, he had a duty to do to the State, and accepted the nomination with the result we have mentioned above.
