Bad Tactics.
The report of the conduct of a large number of the audience at the Wellington Opera House on Wednesday night, when Mr Duthie attempted to give his speech, is very unsatisfactory reading. The New Zealand Times directly charges the Labour Party with having arranged the disturbance. If they are the guilty ones, it certainly shows how easily they are both led and misled, as only a few days previously their conduct had been condemned for hooting the printers, who had been finding money to keep them from starving. Gratitude seems a lost feeling to this party, as we have recorded in the Palmerston papers, that during tho labour procession various halts weie made in front of the establishments, whose proprietors had in print notified their intention not to close, the playing of the band was stopped, and hoots and groans given for these employers. Yet \vi- me informed that many of these who wm- so treated had given special prizes for the sports held in connection with the demonstration. These are those who desire to be specially represented in Parliament, us, presumably in the past, members have not conducted the public business in their fashion ! "We hope it may never be so.
