Strange Burial at Sea.
Captain Bearse Cromwell, of the Cromwell steamship line, died in New York lately his last words being a request that his body should be cremated and that the ashes should be buried at sea. In accordance with this wish his widow caused his remains to be cremated, and she then conveyed the ashes in v vase to a point off the Highland lights," where the burial ceremony took place The small steamer which took the burial party carried flags at half roast, and all the shipping in the harbour exhibited the same tokens of mourning. Arriving at the place of burial, the clergyman in attendance delivered a brief address ; the vase was then uncovered and lowered into seven fathoms of water. A large number of persons on other vessels witnessed the remaikable ceremony.
