The seed list for this mouth is a long oue, including as it does large successional sowings of Peas and Beans, Ciiob>ige, Broccoli and Cauliflower. Of Broccoli the sowings may be made iv drills, to be pricked out as soon as they are large enough to handle, in good well manured well dug land, at about 3t't between tho rows and about 20in from plant to plant This system . f planting out admits of the space intermediate between the rows being availed of for other crops of early vegetables which will be cleared away before tho Summer is over. Of carrots a large crop should be put in — very heavily manured soil causes this vegetable to become large and coarse. For small gardens the dril system of sowing i* tho best. The seeds should be rubbed in sand before sowing. Make the drills half an inch de:paud 15in apart. Spinach, and Celery, Beet, Leeks, Lettuces, and Turnips also have to b< j got in the ground. Among the Peas, ii it be found thar tho strong growing varieties are too thick they should be thinned out, and earth drawn up to the rows. Asparagus roots must not be exposed before being planted, and 1 should be lifted carefully with a fork from the seed lines. A covering of 3in of fine soil should bo spread over the roots when they are placed in position iv the trench, and made firm about them without injuring the stem A mulching of short dung ui-iy be put over the beds as a slight preventable of the effects of dry weather — Press.
