THE STRIKES.
In London at the congress of the Dockets' Union a resolution that no steps should be taken to block Australian ships was carried. The Steamship Owners' Association in Sydney are now running almost' sufficient vessels to meet the requirements of trade. Nearly 50,000 tons of coal are afloat from England. India, and Japan. In N T . S. Wales a whoVaale prosecution of shearers for breaches of agreement is taking place, , and in a test case at Deniiiqnin one of the shearers was mulcted in a fine of £10, in addition to costs. A large number of cases hang on this decision. The Brisbane gas workers li.ive notified that they will no longer contribute towards the strike levy, and intimate their intention of severing their connection from the labour federation. Twelve officers and 36 stewards who left the Australian United .Steamship Company have returned to their vessels unconditionally. The New Zealand matters are shaping to a peaceful end, and different Unions are shaking off the yoke of the Maritime Counci 1 . The employees of the Moruiu^ton Train way Company have decided to sever their connection with Tramway Union and form an indepeiulant one-
