GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT. Established 1670. EVERY POLICY GUARANTEED BY THE STATE. LOW PEEMIUMS and LARGE BONUSES. The aim of this Department has been to provide Life Insurance at tko minimum cost compatible with safety. It does not charge its policy-holders unnecessarily liir^o pruiniunis I in order to enable it subsequently to attract the ignorant by the glitter of increased bonuses. The premiums which it charges aro the lowest compatible with perfect safety, and aro less than the participating rates of any other office doing business in Australasia. In spite of this fact, at the last valuation (December, 1885) the assets of the office were found to exceed the liabilities by flO lOSS SI sum tHan £242,000 sterling— a result due to economy of manage* ment and low mortality.
