GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT. i Established 1870. ' EVERY POLICY GUAKANTEED BY THE STATE. LOW PREMIUMS and LARQE BONUSES. The aim of this Department has been to provide Lifo Insurance at the minimum cost compatible with surety. It does not charge its policy-holders unnecessarily largo premiums in order to enable it subsequently to attraot the ignorant by the glitter of increased bonuses. Tho premiums which it charges are the lowest compatible with porfect safety, and are less than thc participating rates of any otiier oflice doing business in Australasia. In spite of this fact, at tho last valuation (December, 1885) the assets of tlie office were found to exceed tho liabilities by no less a sum than £242,000 sterling— a result duo to economy of management and low mortality.
