« , Tb» usual monthly meeting wa» held at the Library last night at 7 pm. Present : — The Mayor and C'rs Jonson, McMillan, Coe and Jenks. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confhmrd. CORRESPONDECE. Inwards : From R. Gardner re making load between Wbibley's and Borough boundary. From Grant, chairman oi Manawatu Road Board, bating he understood, that the members of the committee had to pay out of their own pocket. He enclo>ed a guinea. The Mayor ex* plained that Mr Grant had evidently misunderstood the arrangement. From Horowhenua County Couir cil enclosing cheque for half cost of new punt, but stating the half cost of thp award was held over to next meeting. From Hillary stating that one of the pedents of the punt broke on the 10th June and it might have been serious. He applied for new gear. The Clerk reported that all that was wanted had been supplied. From G. Nye reporting all work at Ferry comp eted. The Committ c appointed by last Counsil reported that they ha r l agreed to lease to Bradcock and Messina a site with 60 feet frontage to the rivpr for the sum of £5 for twelvemonths, for flaxtnill purposes. The following resolution was passed : — Proposed hy W. L. Cae, seconded hy the Mayor, That the action of the Committee re sand cuttings be adopted — carried. The reports from the Ranger and Poundke&per wer« laid on the table. The result of tendering for the flax on the road" in the Borough was one from R. Austin at £3 It was re* solved to accept this offer. The Council went into Committee to consider Ferry and Recreation Reserves. On resuming the following resolutions were reported. i That the ferryman ba instructed to complete approaches to fmy with additions to fences in ace >rdance with his tender and that the price is not te exceed £3 ss. That Cr Jenks & Joason be a commitiee to examine and report upon old punt now lyiug near Wiroiuuo ferry. That tenders be called for leasing 244^ acres of Recreation reserve. Tenders to be in by next meeting of Council. That the Cleric be instructed to procure two suitable lamps for the use of the Council. Proposed by F. E Jenks, seconded by the Mayor. That in Foxton all gravo sites are to be paid for at the Council office to the Horough Clerk who shall keep tbe plan of the cemetery. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by W. L. Coe. That the Balance sheets of the Borough for the year ending 31st March 1890 be accepted, and that they be published. — carried. Accounts passed for payment.— J. Sullivan, £6 2s 6d ; G.
