Horowhenua County Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Council was held on Saturday. Present — Crs Mmcox, Andrews, Davies, Bos', E.igar, and Ksbbell (chairman). CoKKESPONOENCE. From Boron trh Council, Foxton, s atement of Ferry nco'mt, pun 1 ; account, and claim for £56 18s 4d. }>Rom Minister of Lan-'s. J. G. Wilson, M.HE , and D. G. Monrad re, cros"u'n at Levin. The fol owing resolutions of general interest were passed : — Proposed by Or Andrews and seconded by Cr Simcoi, that the chairman and Cr Dftvies be a Committee to adjust the working accounts of the Wirokino Ferry, and that theamonnt of £71 9< lid he passed for payment being the Council's htif share of indebtedness for construct^ •: of the new punt. Proposed by Or Andrews, seconded by Cr Danes, th.it the Chairman be authorised to attend the meeting of Chairmen of the Local Bodies of the Horowhenua County oalled by
the Chairman of the Ta Horo Eoad ir Board. — Carried. H Proposed by Cr Andrews and 1 seconded by Or Davies, That Crs si Best Simoox, Eager and the Chair- tl man be a committee to meet at Wain kawa re protection works at Wai- a kawa i oad crossing. — Carried Proposed by O Andrews and seconded by Cr Kebbe'l, That the tender of Mr G. K K. Scott, for surveying and engineering in the Wirokino riding be accepted, and c also that of Mr F. Bennet for the Te s Horo and Otaki ridings.— Carried. 1: Proposed by Cr Simcox ajd seconded by Cr Davies, That this council endorses the opinion of the Cook County " Council as set forth in their circular t of the 17th of May re rates on Crown and Native, lands, and that the ] County Chairman be authorised to } join with the Chairmen of other j Local Bodies in the Horowhenua i County in urging upon our member to bring this matter before the Go* ( Ternment at the earliest oppoi tuni ty j — Carried.
