A snrit of novel character has lately been pending between the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company in Wellington, and the Wellington City Corporation, being one regarding the rights of the Company to the light and sunshine which naturally falls upon their property. It appears that, when the Company bought the property upon which the buildings are erected, it was upon th« foreshore, aud there was uninterrupted access of the sun and light to the windows which looked out upon the harbour. Should it be proved that rich deposits of salt underlie the Company's property, the importance of the discovery to the Company, not only as regards the development of a salt industry, but also with jespect to traffic on the canal, is manifest.
