Life and its Close.
Gliding away Rapidly — No pause, no stay, So goes the day On to its close. And the work of the day must be done, Ere the hours of the day are all run, Or remain for ever undone ; Tomorrow has work of its own. Cometh the night Silently, Veiling the light- - Glorious sunlight Hiding from sight, Giving repose. Then how sweet to the weary one Is the rest he has fairly won By a day* work faithfully done ; Swept rest, till awaked by the vising sun. So glides away Imperceptibly Our life's short dayNo pause or stay. Swiftly awny On to its close. Let onr life's work be early begun. Here alone can that life work be done, For the night of death cometh on, And life's sands will soon all be mil. Cometh stern deatli Irresistibly, " All that, hits breath Ts mine," He eaith ; He stills the breath And seals the eyas. Rut deatli hath no victory won O'er the faithful, true-heartod one Who work for the Master hath done, Whose course here hath nobly lieen run. I'ntil (he resurrection 'morn Peacefully. The casket lies l.'uder the sod. Hut the uoul immortal born Joyfully, Above the skies Dwells with its God. j 11. 1\ Toxton.
