I • I. ■ Just before ! ast Christmas, there , was some talk of making efforts to • secure a resident clergyman for Fox 1 ton. We were gad to see the ! people waking up the importance of I having amongst them one whose <, special duty it would be to circulate sound morality and practical re ig on. » We are glad to learn that the ! moreiient is still or. foot It is not ; enough for a sermon to be preached l once or twice on the Sunday in the ' Church. What is really wanted, is the presence in our midst of a self-denying, hard working, cnlti* | vated hiisthn gentleman, who will 1 visit the houses of the people, and - get into sympathy and touch with • them, so that, when, as clergyman I uf the p irish, he stands up in the ■ pulp t, he will not be addressing | strangers, but friends with whose i hopes and fears — w.th whose joys , and sorrows -with whose successes - and losses — wi h whose longings for ■ a belter life and struggles against temptation he ha* a lively sympathy I To >eeure the presence of such a t o ergyman in our midst is worthy of a strong and sell denying effort, and } we trust those who »re promoting , the movement will recei c genezal I encouragement to continue it unti ; their object is attained.
