Fire.
Yesterd»y morning Mr Short the Manager of the Foxton Ready Money Store was awakened at five by noticing the glare of five in at the windows of his residence, over the store. The fire w»s discovered to be in a detached building lying ftbout equal di > twice between the store and Hunter's public house. The building was »n- old one storied residence, and weß used by the Manager as an extra store. When flrtt seen the flames were rising through the roof at the corner nearest the public house, and when Mr Short got to the fire it was wholly beyond control. A lad rang the firebell, but it was sometime before others appeared, nothing could be done, bo their ftppeavance was not tevy n«c«aßary. The fire was not really out by night but it is needless to say that nothing except some wire was left, and this necessarily was damaged. The store was full of oats, flour, chaff, potatoes, wira and other items. We cannot leava whether the loss is covered by insurance.
