«. There was a large attendanoe at the sale of Mr J. w hte's horses, and sensational p ices were realised. Titan was the second animal put up. Ko so opened at 2000 guineas. One hundred bids cirried the price quickly to 80u0, and then, amidst breathless excitement 4000 was reached. Messrs Lloyd and Broadribb were the principal bidders, and the gelding was eventually knooked down to the latter, amid tremendous applause, ior 4600 guineas, tho highest price ever given for a racehorse in Australia. The other prices and purchasers were — Sinecure. 700 guineas, Mr L'oyd, New South Wales ; Dreadnought, 2100 guineas ; Lord Ke-teven, England ; Singapore, 2000 guineas, Mr M O'Shanueoiy, Viotoria ; Budo ph, 820 guineas, Mr Wilson, Victoria ; Tribune, 100 guineas, Mr < -akly, India ; Marco, 625 guineas, Mr Johnstone, Victoria; Carlist, 550 guineas, Mr H. Dangar, Sydney ; Denman, 250 guineas, Mr Woods, Sydney ; Prelude, 2750 guineas, Mr Dowling, Sydney ; Ultimare, 220 guineas, Mr Saunders Melbourne ; Utter, 400 guineas, Mr Oxenham. Sydney ; Litigant, 1515 guineas, Mr Lloyd, New South Wales. Dreadnought was afterward resold to Mr Jones, of Melbourne, Rt an advance of 500 guineas. Mr Broadribb, the purchaser of Titan; comes from Broken Hill.
