Price of Flax.

Our readers will notice that Mr Gardner uttered* word of warning to the millers which we trust all will take note. Advantage of the de* pression is being taken by a large Colonial company acting as ■ agents for American buyers, to procure fibre f.om the hand to mouth settlers, at the ridiculous low price of £14 a ton. It is quite true, as pointed out, that if it gets abroad that millers will sell at this price, no higher sums will be obtained, and no miller yet awhile, can say that he can produce it at thil sum, to pay. Every evidenoe that has lately been obtained by the A§ • gociation, has shown beyond doubt, that where the cost hag been worked out to show payment to every one concerned in its preparation, anc} the high -rOjaliy . demanded for t.the green flax, and a fair percentage on the capital locked up, the cost stands from £14 to £15 10h at the mill. It would be then a great pity;- if, through' the anxiety of some millers to .keep their mills moving in thesa dull times, the price should become depreciated below a fair market value.
