Fast Trains

Ho more than once impressed upon the guard that he was to be told when they got to a certain station — which may be Mike-mike. "All right," said the guard, and then, somehow, forgot all about it. He only remembered the Mike-mike passenger when the train had run a couple of miles past the station. However, it wasn't the express, and after a confabulation •with the driver, the train Avas run back again. " Mike-mike," shouted the guard, flinging open the door of carriage; "here's your station." " All right, thanks," said the passenger, nodding benignly, 1 but showing no disposition to move. " This is Mike-miko," bawled the guard, " w-liere you have to got out " "Not at all," replied tlio other calmly ; " I never said I wanted to get out." Then followed a stormy explanation. " I merely asked you' to let me know when we got to Mike-mike"— said^the .snuffy .. oldgentleman, proclucing'frorn his waistcoat pocket and holding up- between finger and thumb a small round box — " because when I left home this morning my wife told mo that at Mike*mike statiojk.l^ftp to .!>,©■., sure and piracy the feelv ings of'thai; railway guard, and tho nature of his subsequent conimunr cations with the engine-driver when he explained to him that they had run the train back two miles to onable a passenger to take a pill !
