Manawatu County Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the council was held at Sanaon yesterday when there were present — Cra. Ransom (chairman) McLennan, Sanson, Robinson, Hammond, and McKenzie. Prom Tames Norton and the Bank of Australasia, Foxton, with reference to a cheque payable to the former, but which was los!; savera' months ago. The cheque had been sent 'to the formpr enclosed in a letter in care of Mr Honore, bnt had been lost by him. The Council now offered to issue a new cheque t« Norton on condition that Mr H' norq would sign an agreement to indemnify the Council in the event of the lost cheque beinj? cashed by some one Tlv'fl Mr Honore refused to do. The Council decided to issue another chequn to Norton. It was decided not to allow a aid ing to b« put in a 8 reqnested by Messrs "Royle and Munro. Moved *>y Sanson, and seno-ided by Cr Pobin^on, and carried, "That the explanation given by J. Birohlay re construction o " Tramway on the Countyroad be acceped and that he be allowed to complete the game aid to use.it during the p'easnre of this Council but the whole to be at his own cost and risk " Proposed by Cr Sanson, and seconded by Cr MoLennin, " That an ordinary and special meeting of this council be held on the 29th day of March, to consider the representation of the several ridings in the Manawatu County, with a view to readjust the same, as required by law. ' — Carried. On the motion of the Chairman, stconded by Cr McKenzie, {renewals of slaughtering licenses were granted to the various applicants. On. the motion of Cr McLennan, seconed by Cr Robinson, it was resolved, "That a hundred bracks of clay bo put on the .
