FORTY DAYS IMPRISONMENT.
Johnston was brought before Messrs W. H. Watt ani A . D. WillU, J.P.s, who sentenced him to forty dayi with hard labour. The Bench passed this sentence 10 as to keep him more closely confined till the time of the Supreme Court sittings. They said that great credit was due to Constable Stacey for his earnestness in carrying out his duties following Johnston for fifty miles before capturing him.
