Sudden Death.
We '?eg**h to hiare . to record the sudden death of Mr Thornton on Friday evening last. "It appears that on Friday ht> joined lijb family and some Mends' in a picnic tn tbe, baacti, %uA by traTelling to : and fro over tired himself. As he wac sitting on his thair in the evening, about aii o'clock, he 1 fell suddenly forward on W tbe flobr and expired without a atru^le. His daughter and Mr C. Spnngwere present in the room.
INQUEST, An inquest was held by the ! Coroner on Saturday morning at the ■ court bouse, And the following jury 'was empanelled. B. Spe'Jlxnan j (foreman) J. Hurley, H. "Webb. "W. Charles Augustus Spring.: hem? sworn said— l. knew the deJ-eased William Thornton. I last saw him alivs ahou,t »i* o'clock; last ervenrag in Kis house. The deceased wag sitt* ing in a chajr when he feU forward on his fate on the floor, FJe nevw spoke, but gasped once or twice. I packed him 'up. and the doctor came^ noon afterwards; The deceased had T)een spending the day on the beach with ; his fe^ii'ly/ .' "•* • ' - ; " Constance Thornton holing sworn said, — I was present when 'ray father died. He never spoke wheh he fell off the chair. He wae seventy years ojd, and was a' Yorkshire |man. He was a tailor by trade and lived at Foxton. His wife is alive, and lam the only child. E.C. Foot bein»f, sworn said — I made a post mortom examination, of the deceased and (after stating tbe causes) consider fhe causa of the death to be from hetnmorhage. ■.. ' The Jury immediately reumed a verdjjpt of death from heart de»«ase. The funeral took place on 'Suday afternoon.
