Fatal Accident.

On Tuesday afternoon a pleasure party went up the river for a picnic and Messrs Fhillpotts, T. J. Spring and Stansell crossed the river for a bathe. Whilst swimming about, it i appears that the young man Spring, who could not swim much, got off the shallows and dropped in to deep water all of a sudden, and whilst struggling to get out, called on the others for assistance. By the report of the inquest, it will be seen that every effort was made to get him to shore, with, most unfortunately, want of sueeesi, and the young man sank to rise no more. Every appears to be due to both Mr Phillpotfl and Master Stansell for the attempts they made.
