That, as far as possible^ the "colour lje uniform, and of a palish'yellow. ' 2, That* y^here two or more colours «xi»t. they should, as far as possible, be separated '■ into secondary mftrks. » • 3. That' no ' runners oy hard strikers (improperly-decorticated fibre") should be left in the heads or layers. 4. That the seed or crop end should be soften«d ; the tow and hard particles being carefully removed. o. That the baits generally shipped at present are too heavy aud bulky, and the
heads too large. Square pressedpaoke d bales of 2£cvrt to 2£cwt each are much pre* ferred to large bale*, and the heads should not sxceed 2£lb to 3Jlb weight each. (>. That fine and good-oolouved hemp ahould ba protected by a oloth or canvas wrapper. 7.
