From a splendid -start Brown Duke momentarily held the lead, but was quickly replaced by Weka, who went off at a terrific pace, and soon left her; field half a dozen lengths behind. Past the stand the first. time Weka was in the lead, with Brown Duke second, and Montrose and Eclat th* most promi* nent of the others. At the end of a mile Montrose took up the running, and Eclat, Brown Duke and Weka were his most immediate attendants No change took place till the bend was reached, when Brown Duke and Weka fell away, and Eclat made a bold bid, and was closely followed by Fexton. Entering the straight Montrose was leading Eclat by a length, and Foxton, was -coming up fast on the outside. Thence to the finisk ensued a grand race. At the top of the straight Cruiser was alongside Eclat, who was a length behind Montrose A good race homo resulted in Montross winning^ by a length, Eclat a similar distance ahead of Cruiser.
