Arrivals since sth ultimo ar< Aorangi, Banffshire, Abercarne, anc Cloncaria, with a total of 2846 tales hemp, and 687 bales tow. Of fim quality hemp there is still a greal scarcity, which accounts for the slightly higher rates recently paid whilst the improved value of the common sorts is mainly to be at- , tributed to the advance of £3 to £4 per ton which has taken place on common brown Manila since the date of my last advices The writer "begs to enclose and to call attention to some further printed advices as to the preparation and baling of NewZealand hemp which he has formulated in the hope that they may be of service to exporters and shippers. Our market today closes firm for hemp at an nexed quotations, whilst tow is all hut unsaleable. Annexed are particulars of the landings, deliveries and stocks of New Zealand hemp for the month ending 31st October, 1889 :— Landed, 782 tons ; delivered, 647 tons l . stock, 645 tons. Prices current Wellington Fine, £33 10sto£35 ; good £32 to £82 10s ; middling to fair, £29 10s to £30 10s; apmnion to middling' £26 10s to £m 10s ; low and ordinary (nominal) £24 to £26 10e.
