THE MANAWATU RACING CLUB.
This Club has evidently reache" the aerao of its fame. The official 3 are assured that their doings ara kno«n and advertising is most un neccpssary. Under other manage ment this club took care to let the public in 'heir ovrn immediate neighbourhood and elsewhere know of the sport they intended holding, but this year they evidently wil not have any sport. By this we do not mean to say the cub does not intend to held .t race meeting, as in the only t wnthat, m the club's opinion, is so far removed from civilization ns to require their meeting to be od vertisod, we have seen a notice of | their intention to have somo races. This notification however only ap« pearedaf** days before the noini nation", and we are in doubt if any have been received. If any have, and rome ar bound to have been they will b« few. and we should say it would be po sib c for the Hub to save any nrther expense of a meet' in£, and award the » rizes to' the horses en t wed The Club knows. bit as yet. the public do not. what the prospects of sport a c likely to be, us thpy have ' y snm° bun<; ins stopped »ipy further entrances being received, the hack entries closing a1 the same time as the ethers We know by their ill-timed economy thai they hive ost nominator fronr this district, and m"sfc have fro • their own, as they did not advertisf in anything lifce a prominent mnnnei in either of the rmpers pubHshed it Pa'merston.
