It appears that the night before Mrs Allan reproved the deceased for remaining out late, and that the man ■with whom she was, gave Mrs Allen a large amount of abuse. The following morning Mrs Allan informed her daughter that if sho de sired to marry she might do so, bushe would not have anything to do* with the man. and this seems to have ci eated a disagreement and the deoensed informed her motner that she would drown herself. It was not expected she won' d, but shortly after she was noticed going out the bacjc way dress d in her best clothes, called out that she Avas off to drown herself. Hey el Jest sister ran over to the constable, but as he stayed to complete s me other yjr business, by the time ho had arrived the unfortunate giri had fulfilled her threat. It appears sha left her house and ran down past the railway station, crossed the rails, and waded out on the mud hank rf.and thence into, the water. There were one or two persons not far off who saw the girl run in, but she disappeared go quickly that no efforts would have been of aly avail. 1 The police dragged for the body all yes- ; terday but without success, but have .^today found it, about one hundred . ' yards below where the girl ran in. The inquest will he held tomorrow ■> morning.
