The ordinary monthly meeting took place at the Council offices, Sansou, on Tuesday last. He asked the Council to forward a. toll-board as soon as possible, and hoped the Council would extend the distance of the ferry boundary from half a mile to a mile, as people at Shannon were in the habit of ferrying within that distance at present. Wilson, M.H.R., Lulls, with regard to his action iv laying the Council's complaint regarding the charge of the Auditor-General for auditing the County accounts before the Government ; also another complaining of the bad state of a road leading to his woolshed, and asking the Council to take steps in the matter. From J. McLennan, Oroua Downs, saying he held the Council responsible for the bad state of a culvert on Darkey's road, and any damages through defective drainage to the Oroua Downs Estate. From Bett. Cr Mitchell explained to the Council the application of Mr Davidson to put a tram down at Montoa, by saying that it was only a length of 2Hh chains, and Mr Davidson having formed the road, he wished, should he be allowed to construct it, to prevent others from using it. He gave notice of motion for next meeting to construct the tramway. • . Cr Sanson, on behalf of the committee appointed, reported that Mr. J. Harris had agived to let the Council h^ve the building lately the property of the Bank of Australasia, for an office at a rental of £20 ltis yearly, or to selLit for a lump sunVof £225, half to be paid at the end of. the present yeur. He thought it dirt cheap, and the Council as a whole were of the same "opinion. It now being one o'ciock, Cr Sanson moved, and Cr McLennan seconded, That the standing orders be suspended until 2 o'clock.— Carried. The Council then adjourned for lunch. Upon resuming, the clerk was asked who th(! principal debtors were on the tramway, and it was found that almost £500, without counting the minor accounts, stood on the books at present. Cr McKeuzie here took his seat. BELLING THK TRAMWAY. The question of selling the tramway .was brought before the meeting by the chairman, who said it was a most favourabla time, as the tramway had shown of late such good returns, the income, above all working expenses, amounting to £535 yearly.
