THE PAYNE FAMILY.

« This talented family appeared at the. public Hall on Saturday and Monday nights. We are not warranted in going through the whole of the items on the programme, but ivppi -the very first the famiiy " jsaughton" and carried their audience with them. Ii is a pleasura le entertainment, your ears drink in sweet music, and some of the items pvovoke> a pleasant laughter, good for- th ! e health. We very much erijdyed it, and we fancy the others who filled the hall are of the same mind. Nearly every item was eccored, which was willingly responded to, by the giving of some fresh item, "Thq Bells " showed the power of tha' 'company, whilst "The three littjia maids " introduced the three MiselVyne's in a very pretty and music! 'trio." 'Jhe. quartette, vocal and. instrumental, the three young lattiej?.: playing the vio ins, Mr W. Payne the flute and M!r Steel j thei piano way much, enjoyed. Tbe^' piece < selected was the " t?ee'-g'&w" waltze, and the companysung the chorus to their own playing. The^Gipjjies* Laughing " chorus, the v Sobbing " chorus also took the audience, in both, cases compelling laughter, whilst the cat duet between Messrs W. J. Payne and E. Steele, would have made a oat laugh, had one been present, it created one continued ajoar from the hearers. Laiti night the bull was again quite full though it had been raining hard all day, and still rained duriug the evening, , „ !fhe entertainment was as full pf;pleasure as Saturday's and it is hard to pick out particular items, the JNJimg ladies, as usua 1 , securing enc'preß for their solos. Mr Steele istp be complimented on the very clever manner he sang " yawning,-' as he really appeared to be " so very sleepy.*' ;Mr W. J. Payne sang %< 111 iatte yptt home Kathleen " ex.ceed^pgiy well. We think that Miss Maua made a far wiser selection in ° O^eteer imy bark w last night, than her'iOtig of the fii st night, audit was heartily tncoced. All the three ladieVhAd. a bouquet presented to them* by some admiring- memher of the v audience, v and the compliment was but- right, as _ their efforts to please' are genuine and . persistent. we f^el sure that nnother visit of the Paypp family would, mean a densely crowded bouse.
