He was bred by Mrs Miller, West Taieri, out of her celebrated mare Ducheaß, and is by Emperor, out of the pure Clydesdale mare Kate (imported by the late Mr James Straoban) Emperor has gained three firat and second prices, and is got by' the , renowned Napoleon (imported by J. Nimmo) Napoleon by George Buchanan's Emperor, out of Nancy, bred by Alexander Finlay, Esq., Sandyhills netr Glasgow. ' Nancy, by the celebrated Garnary horse, her dam by Scotsman. I Conqueror took the first prize as a two . year old at the Blueskin show, and second f prize for all comers and aged horses at the same show ; and at Oamaru tbe following year took second prize as a three yeir old 9 in a field of nine competitors. At five year - old he took first prize at Timarn, and spec ial prize of 12 guineas as a colonial bred L i horse to stnnd in the district that season.
