INQUEST.
ahe inquest on the body of Leslie 'Charles Ireland was held at the Oourt house yesterday afternoon by the Coroner, E. 8. Thynne Esq, and a jury of six. Mr 0. V. Furrie was chosen foreman.
Evidence was given by W. H. Stephenson to the effect that whilst endeavouring to slew the punt at Osborne and Griesen'a mill, on the 17th September, whilst a fresh was in the river tlie punt capsized and threw the deceased and himself into ithe river.
Richard Staunton and Alexander Ivwin corroborated the evidence of Stephenson. William Smith deposed to finding the body at Moiitoa near the shannon f erry on Mindav night. Edward Thomas Ireland the father of the decased gave evidence as to the age of his son, that he was unmarried, and he was satisfied his son's death arose from pure misadture. The jury immediately lnwight in a verdict of death from drowning.
