THE SPRING SHOW.
Gardiners are out of it in Foxton, the interest they take in letting the public observe the beauties < f nature is as indifferent as the Church people are in school matters, we have therefore to rely on our drapers for something 1 p' easing to the eye. For some few days, announcements have appeared from some of our business men that their now goods had arrived, and we therefore sent a representative to see, mark and learn as to the facts of the case.
At Me Millak, Ehodes & Co. the display in the window is very good, there being flowers, feathers, hats and costumes in great vaiiety Around the shop are the most delicate novelties of the season digplayed, the flowers are most beautifully made to represent nature, and are most natural. Feathers of all shades are about, some having most natural imitations of butterflies on them. Hats are in every variety the newest shapes being made of fancy straw, and very wide in front, and are described as the Park " Kaiserin " and the " Hffel." We are informed that the bonnets are very small this season, especially the style knowr as the " Plateau." The bordered zephyr cloths and Proche robes in white and colours seem to be the leading fashion for summer dresses. Ribbons are also a featui c the newest and prettiest shades be•ng "Cream" "old gold" and
" corail." The latter shade being new this season. There are a' so a number oi new and pretty things for children. The show should bo visited. Hamilton's Cas» Drapery. Owing to the shop being without a verandah the Manager is Enable to make a pretty window show, but inside, the ladies aye bound to be tempted. The dress materials h«rt are in all the newest shades, and t*i» coloured French printed fabrics are in choice d. signs. Mats are also a la mode. Tho other goods are as usual of a first class quality, but do aot, as not being specially spring goods require particular attention.

The show at this establishment is very good, but is confined more to dress materials, ammgst which are many very pretty patterns m bor dered Zephyr cloibs worked muslins «.nd prints. The manager keeps up the ©Id name of this store for cateriug for the Maories. as he has many pronounced designs in prints, which are generally appreciated by the Natives. At the door a roll of striped teunis material is very appropriate foe the season, if the Tennis Club is resuscitated.
AIJKFDEEX HcUiE. Mr Funston has also a largo importation of suitable dress material* amd a fair show of ladies millimsry, and hats. We need only diieet attention to the fact of his keeping pace with the other drapery estabiishments, as after describing the latest designs of one house, the others are bound to be a repetition of an oft told tale.
