INQUEST.
An inquest was held at Messrs Jack Brothers hemp mill, at Moutoa, yesterday, by E. Thynne, Esq., Coroner, on the sudden death of John Daniels, a cook. A jury of six were empanelled, and the enquiry was held in the living room at the mill. The doctor was present, and from his examination of the body, and the evidence given by the witnesses, the jury had no difficulty in deciding that Daniels came to his death by an apoplectic fit On Saturday afternoon, as the deceased was bringing up some water, he complained of a pain in his head, and very shortly afterwards he again complained of the same pain, to a man he had been speaking to, and then fell suddenly into his arms. He had to be carried to bed, but thoug asked, refused to have a doctor called in. At half past seven on Sunday morning he died. The hands were very attentive, some of them sitting up all the night with him, but they were of the opinion that he was hardly ever conscious. He was a married man, and his wife is in Wellington, he having been one time custodian of the Opera House. Mr Jonson, the undertaker, took a coffin yesterday at midday, and had him buried in the cemetery.
