The dervishes wore driven from hi 1 to hill>; fighting desperately as hey were driven back. 'Jhey. w»re charged repeatedly by the cavalry while, vainly attacking the right of the Egyptian troops, and W ad-el- Jiana, their chief was killed. After seven hours fighting the Arabs broke and finally fled, leaving their leader with twelve Emirs and 1500 men dead on the field. The cavalry «nd gun boats on the river followed the fugitives for miles. All the dervishes; baggage and 50 standards were captured. Major-Genefal Grenfell has captured 1000 prisoners besides a large number >a£ weapons 'And" one gun. The remnant of the dervishes were driven into the desert, 1 there to die of hunger or thirst! General GreofeU lost 17 kiled and 180 wounded. }t has been decided to occupy Sanaa. The troops are re - ;turoi»g toCairo, the invasion being at an end. . : .
