..... — * — . I Before the court opened on Wednesday morning his Worship the Mayor and Messrs Busiell and Thynne J.P.s waited as a deputation on H. W. Brabant Esq., B. M. to request his assistance in obtaining the services of an extra constable The reasons necessitating this course were urged- by tb#> three justices, and the Resident Magistrate, admitted that the present constable needed help. The absence of the clerk of the court on Mondays, the day when his services are now mostly needed was »Jso mentioned, and probably an alteraticu will be made in the days of his attendance at the Courthouse at Foxton, Later on in the day a few of the storekeepers also waited on vi r Brabant to urge further police pro-' tection, and it was mentioned that robberies from the stores were very frequent, and that there were some very undesirable characters about. The Resident Magistrate promised to do all he could to further the wishes of the deputation.
