Manamatu Herald. TUESDAY, JULY 2, 1889. THE BOROUGH FUND ACCOUNT.

« In our last issue we published the Borough Fund Account, for the year ending the 31st of March 1889. We (ifefw more particular attention to it, as newspaper readers seldom, care for figures, and pass any statement by without seeing whether the balances are on the right or wrong side. Our friend* outside the Rorough, however, have frequently ; wanted to know how we were managing to get along, and now the accounts have passed the Auditor, the figures cjuoted cannot be questioned. In the general account, the balance shows that the Borough had to their credit at the B ink £57 11s ltd ; the Library account £19 19s lOd to credit ; the > "emetery account £5 18i lOd to credit; and the Reserves Account stood £29 19s lOdtothe good. In the general statement of assets and liabilities the Borough is also able to show a sum of £95 12s lid to the right side. The Reserves that are i& charge of the Borough have also been well looked after, and are returning by rentals a revenue of £39 Is 4d a year. The only debt not taken into con sideration in these figures, is the sum of £367 which is payable off in yearly instalments of £18 7s This balance sheet is as satisfactory as could be wished, as it has shown care and attention on the part of the Mayors and Councillors during the past ypar, Though in funds, there has been no hoarding up of money to create the result, but ordinary and necessary expenditure has been incurred. With^f*>hs% re*
