The oidinary monthly meeting * was held on Tuesday; Present— Cis 1 McKenzie (Chairman), Hammond, l Sanson, and Saxon. ( Amongst the correspondence read ] was a letter from the Treasury, stat- j ing that the application for a loan of 1 £1,000 had been provisionally agreed - 1 to. The circular also stated that a ' bill would be introduced to raise the ' interS?* on loans to local bodies,, .and ' that a rate &F& be struck to cover < not less than six per cent, for the repayment of the sum granted. From John Carter, with reference to a dangerous hole in a oulyert at Moutoa. From J. Wright Stewart with regard to the dangerous condition ol culverts and bridges on the Moutoa*road. From Hoe and Gatton, enclosing an account for £2 claimed for loss inctirred through the f ailqrei of the Tramway contractor to deliver material at the proper time.—refused, 'k From Hoe and Q-atton and Austin and Dearlove, jointly applying for a siding opposite their mils. — Deferred to next meeting. . . _ I * ' .' From the Wellington solicitors to the Horowhenui County Council, de* | mending a payment of £120 6s 2£d., as their half of the profit on &c two* ferries. From Thomas F. Gibson, request, ing aremission of his rates ior 1888-9 on account of loss incurred by floods. No formal resolution carried, but applicant need not pay. From' Messrs Gilford, J_ke, and Co., flax roillers, with .application for permission to make a crossing over the tramway opposite Mr Ludlow's. — Granted. Mr D. Fraser interviewed the Council with regard to a claim of £150 for severance of the Awahuri Estate. Mr Larsen waited on the Council with samples of a rotten culvert, and ' claiming £3 dapaages. Slaughter licenses were granted to Messrs W. K. Simpson and H. Proposed by Cr Sanson, and seconded by Gr Bason, "That the Horowhenua Council be requesteoVto send a copy of the .agreement' said to exist between the two Councils in. terested; the clerk to etate in his letter that if there ba suoh an agreement, this council will act up to the terms of such agreement.
