Johnscwtole, March 18. Just double tbe number of cattle advertised came forward, about one third being beef ; of the remainder perhaps the least said the better. Sufltee it to Bay they were of the most ordinary of stores, and as a matter of course found no purchasers amonjr the butchare. The majority were turned out unsold. The bidding for anything like beef was brisk, and made ruling rates. One pen of small heifers mly was entered. Sheep mastered op plentifully, a large proportion being storso, principally Merinos. The bidding for all sorts was brisk, and with the exception of one liae of ewes :<nd wethers, were disposed of at auction. No fat wethers were penned. Pigs »lso were absent. Ox beef made 11s the lOOllia ; ewe mutton, IJd and if 1 per lb. CATTXX-Bullofks, £4/5s to £5 7a <M, averaging £4 18s 2d ; others averaged L 5 ; young and green sheers, L 3 7a 0i and LS 10* ; heifers, L 3 7s 6d. | Sheep—Fit ewes, 7s lOd to 8s; light weight wethers, 89; Merino wethers, 6s 3d to 63 4ii ; store Merino ewes and., wethers, 3s 31 to 4*; Merino lambs (in* ferior), 2-t 3d; fat lambi', 7s 4d to 7s 81 ; a few Romney Marsh rams, bred by Mr | B^linton, 30i.
