IN fppealinn for subscriptions for the FIRST MAGDALEN ASYLUM in j New Zealand, the Sisters of the "Good Shepherd " desire to express, through me I their sincere gratitude to thfi inhabitants i of this City and the Colony generallj for i tha kind co-operation afforded them sir.cc i they commenced the great work to which their lives are devoted in their temporary residence, Manchester Street North, Hourly we meet with a poor Mapdalen tired of a misspent life, seekine v. shelter, and finding no .security against tbe biting blasls of renewed temptation , turns away with the weight of the world's aoousation, with the world's condemnation, and becomes the victim of an unholy impulse, which cannot be recalled without a sighnay, without a tear. A most desirable site has been acquired for the Magdalen near Christ church. 2 His Eminence Cardinal Muran laid "ri.- foundation-stone at "Mount Magdala " on the 18th of "February of last year in the presence of 50110 piople, and the first portion of the Asylum is near'y complex (I. 3. The advantages of ihe Magdalen will be extended to iillNew Zealand and eWwhere. 4. The waifs and the wanderers who : are rescued from the paths of misery and : sin are not asked to what creed ihey belong. It is sufficient tha-. they need succour. 5. The inmates of " Mount Magdala " 1 and the Good Shepherd Nuns placed over them will rememb r always, with lively ! gratitude, the benefactors of the instituj tion. 6.
