EXHIBITION AWARDS.
MELBOURNE. Further awards in connection with ' the Melbourne Exhibition were announced 'to-day Kor ..models of steamers, the Union Steamship Company of Duoedin take first award ; for patent life saving raft for sea use, Captain AUman, of the Union Com pany, third 1 ; 'for collision apron, H olmes fourth award. In the timber exhibits, tb& Colonial Museum (Wei lington), the New Zealand Commissioners (Wellingtpn). the Public Works Department (Wellington), the New Zealand Midland Railway .Com* pany (Christchurch), Booth arid Co. (Wellington), and Mr T. Kirk, F.L.S. (Wellington), were each awarded first prize. ' For stout oats, Messrs Obambqrlain Bros (Mxsterijon), New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, j. and T. Meek (Oamaru ) , each recei red first award, ; and the ifew Zealaud and Australian Land^eompatiy (Dunedin), both first and' second. , , - • Tbe jurow report that the .exhibits of New Zealand wheat are of very good quality, but the weight is not a,B satisfactory ■as was expected. Stout oats were excellent quality * New Zealand standing first itr excellence. In malting barley New Zealand stands firs', for weight, but Victorian generally was preferable for malting.
