POSTAL CONTRACTS.
It is now some months since tenders were invited for the conveyance of a mail between Foxton and Shannon, and though we are informed some of our residents tendered for the same, no notification has been received by them of the decision of the department. As cheques were enclosed with the tenders, the parties are at least interested in obtaining a return of their money, even if they do not succeed in getting the contract.
Wo learn ihat Benjamin Pepper, a I BadcUer, was arrested at Otaki on Friday by Constable O'Rorke on an alleged oharpe <f larceny of 30a, the property of Mr Warren, a blacksmith at Otaki.
