FOXTON RACING CLUB.

The Secretary of the Foxton Bacing Club convened a meeting of the Committee on Saturday night | last, to consider the offer made by Mr J. GK Wilson to provide a Ladies Bracelet to be run JPor at the forthcoming summer meeting on the 22nd January. There were present — Messrs J. L. Oliver (chairman), J. B. Russell (secretory), F Andrews, J. Purcell; J. Whyte, G. Gray, W. I Bailey, and E. S. Thynne. After I the minutes had been read, the matter was fully discussed, and it was unanimously resolved to accept Mr Wilson's offer. Some little difficulty was experienced in arranging the race, as Mr Wilson had omitted to rueution the probable value, but the j committee* appreciating his love of sport, felt quite assured that the prize would be in accord with that gentleman's well-known liberality It was finally decided that the Bracelet should be run for by hacks owned by residents in the Foxton electorate, over a distance of one and a quarter miles, welter weight for age. The following new members were proposed and elected : — Messrs Cook, Nixon, and Hunter. It was decided to leave the arrangements for the sale of the pi*ivileges in the hands of the Secretary as in the past. There were two applications for supplying a band on the race day, and the offer of the Makino band, who have for some rears attended, was accepted. The Secretary was requested to draw the attention of the custodian j of the course to the galloping of J horses on thoso portions of the course ! other than where permission ha<i • been granted, and to request him to '

furnish the names of fli&riders, with .a view to disqualify them. The Secretary intimated that after the forthcoming meeting he would be unable to retain his office, and' trusted the committee would take steps to elect some one in his place ta take over the books and accounts, ihe committee expressed their regret at this announcement, but as another meeting is to be held on tlie Saturday previous to the faces, nothing was then done in the matter.
