•m i i The following is the Christchurch Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 10th instant : — The most notable feature of the week is the reported rise in the value of wheat in the Home markets. This is undoubtedly good news for the farming community, us a large proportion of that exported this year is on growers' account. -4 Notwithstanding this increased value at home, prices locally are at present not much affected (beyond giving a firmer tone to the market). This is to be accounted for from the fact that the millers are well-stocked. Business during the week has been on the whole brisker, some large parcels of wheat having changed hands for shipment. — Wheat : Good sound milling is worth from 4s to 43 3J f.0.b., second samples, 3s 61 to 43 f.o.b. ; chick wheat, 2* 61 to 3s, delivered in Chriatchurch. — Oats : The market is without change, but although little or no business is being transacted, holders are firm in their demands. Best short milling are worth from 2 j 3d to 2s 4d f . o. b. ; good feed samples from Is 10 1 to 2s in Christchurch. Barley.— There is nochange to reportinthestateof the market, and values are unchanged. Prime milling samples are saleable at from 3s to 3s 6d per bushel, delivered in Christchurch ; second rate to medium, 2s 41 to 2s 9d ; feed, Is 7d to 2a per bushel, delivered in Christchurch. Potatoes. — The market remains in much the same state ; little or no business is being transacted. Holders are ashing 40s at country stations. Buyers are not in the market. Last week's qr.uatiou3 must be repeated, viz., 33s to 40a per ton, sacks extra. Grass seed. —The demand continues good, with a rather rare supply. Firstclass samples are selling freely at from 5* 61 to 6i per bushel, delivered in Christchurch. Cheese ami Bntter.— The state of the market is unaltered. The former is dull of sale at 3d to 3Jd ; the latter 7d to 7£d, but very unsileable. Hay.— £2 103 t o £2 15s piet ton, delivered in Caristchurch.
