It is expeoted that the yield thia season will be below the average. Telegrams also are to hand from France, reporting that a deficiency is expected in the wheat crop of that country. In tbrf House of Commons today, the Rignt Hon. W. E. Gladstone moved the consideration of the Irish Land Bill, as reamended in the House of Lords on Friday last. His artillery is reported to be sufficiently strong, and 15 of the Ameer's cannon, captured at the battle pf Korea Illviar last month, are, in consequence, being sent on to Herat. MELBOUENE, August 16. Sailed, yesterday afternoon— Union Company's Rotorua, for the Bluff. Private telegrams from London report that a collision has occurred between the barqu* Clodian, bound from Melbourne (6th April) to Liverpool, with wheat, and the barque Yarmouth. The former vessel sunk, and has become a total loss. Arrived, this af tern oon— Union Compamy's steamship Kotomahana, from the Bluff. Brisbane, August 16. The Detaohed Squadron was sighted off Stadbrooke Island yesterday morning, and ' is expected to anohor in the river at 1 p.m. today. The Right Rev. J. Quinu, Roman Catholio Bishop of Brisbane, is seriously ill, and is not expected to recover. Sydney, August 16. No fresh cases of smallpox have been reported today. All the patients at the quarantine station are doing well. Arrived, this morning — Union Company's steamship Ara wata, from Auckland.
