DRAINAGE OF LAND.

TO THE EDITOP OP THE UANAWATIfcSBRALD. Sir, — I am informed that certain misstatements have been circulated in reference to the drainage of the Valley, (Sections 335 386, 415, and 416, being my land), which are calculated to prejudice me in the mi iids of the inhabitants. . , ■ = ■ Being a non-resident, and so unable to refute same by word of mouth, may I beg the great favor that you will publish the following extracts from letters ' Written by myself to Mr Gower on the 18th Marchmand sth April last, which announced,*? think, very clearly my recognition of a claim upon mo and my willingness to accept the responsibility. On 18th March: — "lam quite willing to bear my fait share of the burthen either by contributing a lump sum or paying » special rate provided everything is done fairly and that my land is benefitted proportionally. " On April sth. — "I am quite willing to take my sharo of responsibility with re* spect to my land, and do all that a resident would do. Ido not think my neighbours should ask more than this. lam willing to subscribe t*y fair share towards a general scheme that shall benefit the whole, so that the owners of the land contiguous shall not be prejudiced by th»lanU being owned, by an absentee."
