The Chrititchurch C>ra Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, 17th instant : — There is no appreciable change to repert in the state of the markets. The Victorian agricultural statistical returns, published recently, show that while the area of land sown with wheat was largely in excess of the previous year, there was still a deficit-of over a quarter million of bushels^ in the yield. Before the publication of these statistics Victoria was a large exporter. When it was discovered that the converse, of this would be the case, great excitement prevailed in the market, and it >is said as high as 5s 9d per bushel was given to complete charters. Notwithstanding thia, our local markets are not at present affected. The weather, since the gale of Friday night and Saturday, has been most favorable, and all farming operations are being proceeded with. —Wheat : Good milling samples of Tuscan are worth from 33 9d to 3a lOd ; Hunter's white, 3d 6d to 3a 7d, f.oA ; lines of seed wheats, from 4s 3d to 4s 6d per bushel ; seconds, suitable for milling, 2s 6d to 2s 8d per boshel ; ohiok wheat varies much in quality, and ranges from Is 6d to 2a 6d per bushel. — Oata : The value of this cereal appears to have become steady. Bright milling, in good shipping lines, is saleable at from 2a to% 3d, f.0.b. ; feed quality, la 8d to Is lOd per busheL —Barley : Values are unaltered, bat a better inquiry prevails. Prime malting, from 2a 9d to 3a per bushel ; fair to medium, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; feed quality, Is 9d to, 2s per busheL— Potatoes : The market id again on the rise, and a quotable advance of 2s 6d on the ton may be said to be established. , Sales have been effected during the weak at 30s to. 335, at country stations, sacks extra.— Grass seed : Business in this article of produce is quiet, only a few. stray orders coming to hand. The quotations are the same as ust week's, viz., from 4s 6d to 53 per bnshel ; for welloleaned farmers' samples, indifferently oleaned, according to sample ; cocksfoot, 3d to 3id nerlb, —Cheese and butter : .
